Offshore wind power is not economically viable in some countries, where there is lots of land available at a low value, and/or the continental shelf drops off too steeply. Australia is one such example.
Nevertheless, this is good news for sustainability. 4.2 Gigawatts is equivalent to the rated power generated of 2 and 5/8s or 2.625 Hazelwood Power plants (rated power of one plant is 1.6 GW).
