I paid a security deposit of two weeks rent for a room in a two bedroom unit where the landlord sleeps in the living room. I found out that latter piece of information on inspecting the place. I asked the landlord back for my money a week later. I sought legal advice from Marrickville Legal Centre, where a rep told me that my case was weak, even with getting the second week of my security deposit back. If I lodge a dispute with NCAT that will cost $49, plus having to attend at least two hearings.
